Christina Friberg recently won the student paper competition at the Midwestern Archaeological Conference in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.  Her paper investigated the role of religion in the context of Mississippian period  (AD 1000-1500) culture contact through an analysis of decorated pottery vessels.  The award included a cash prize as well as numerous books donated by academic presses and other organizations.
